Frimley Junior Chess Club has its own store of chess boards, pieces and timers (clocks) rather like these:

The extra pair of queens are available for when a pawn is promoted. Of course, it is possible to “under-promote” to knight, rook or even bishop but a knight would be the most common under-promotion.

We recommend DGT timers as the build quality is second to none as is their after sales service and support. The best model for children is the DGT “Easy Timer” as they are built for robustness and at a lower price than say the DGT 2010 or 3000. We would advise against old style analogue clocks as they to be demolished fairly quickly!
